Saturday Simplicity.

Turtleneck: Thrifted  |  Jeans: Gap  |  Jacket: Found at Buffalo Exchange  |  Heels: Nine West
Shades: F21  |  Handbag: Alexander Wang

Today I made a trip to the mall to shop for a few work wardrobe staples. It has been a while since I have worked in an office and somehow I didn't have a basic black pencil skirt or black dress pants (since sequins, leather and polka dots don't count as basic). I found my way to Ann Taylor and re-connected. I forgot how fabulous this store is! Plus Kate Hudson is the poster girl and I love her. Everything I tried on in Ann Taylor was great quality, classic and fit like a glove. Did I mention the dressing rooms were fab? Great lighting, plush seating and a color palate of grey, silver and cream. The best part is that most pieces are not only great for work but also for mixing in with play clothes. Ann Taylor makes me feel chic, lady like and all grown up.

I like to be comfortable but still put together when I go to the mall. My favorite uniform is all black and a touch of leopard never hurts. :) I am so excited that it finally cooled down enough to pull on a cozy turtleneck and wear a little coat. Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!

Fall Floral.

Blouse: Prabul Gurung for Target | Blazer: Truth & Pride | Pants: Paige Black Label
Heels: Ralph Lauren (thrifted) | Bangle: LFR DesignsHandbag: Alexander Wang

I recently transitioned from working in an upscale women's boutique to an office. The best part (besides working 9-5, having weekends and holidays off, and a fun group of co-workers) has been being able to wear heels everyday! When I was on my feet nine hours a day I just couldn't do it, but now I can rock heels seven days a week if I want to. :)

This floral blouse is one of my favorites and I love that I found it on clearance at Target after the Prabal Gurung launch. Major score! A printed sleeveless blouse is a wardrobe staple. It's easy to layer under anything (like the blazer I paired with it today) but you can also wear it without a layer in the warmer weather and it is still professional. A while back I posted it tied up in the front with a pleated faux leather skirt. Super fun! Try pairing with a leather jacket, ripped skinnies and a bright pair of heels for a night out. If you are looking for a fabulous blouse check out the line Equipment. They always get it right!

Thrifted Goodies.

My husband and I have started taking about an hour on our day off together each week to browse different Goodwill stores in search for unique home decor. He also loves looking for records while I power through the clothing. We are thrilled about the goodies we have found over the past few weeks!! We found a matching basket to the apple one I previously posted, a vintage alarm clock, wooden horse, crystal ice bucket, crystal decanter and quartz bookends. I also found some amazing Fall/Winter pieces!! Skirts in all textures, sweaters, tops, two pairs of shoes, and a St. John Sportswear jumpsuit that's too big but I will find a way to make it work! :) We probably spent a total of around $120 on everything. Oh how I love thrifting!!!

Tuesday Thrifting Part 2.

New goodies put to use! Apples in the basket, Photos on the wall, Lipsticks and Glosses in the dish. Success!

Tuesday Thrifting.

I am thrilled with my finds from my quick trip to Goodwill today! I was dropping a few bags off for donation and I wanted to pop in and look for a small dish to hold my lipsticks and glosses I keep on the entry table. For once I got there right when they opened and it is by far the best time to go! Afternoons are crazy...you'd think you were at Nordstrom Rack or something. People everywhere, a long line to check out, it's nuts!

My husband has been looking for a desk lamp for his office and we haven't found anything he loves for a great price. I spotted this gem today and knew he would love it. What a steal at $14.99! I also found my dish for lipsticks, a vintage looking fruit bowl, another amazing serving bowl just like the ones my grandparents have from years ago (I have a thing for bowls) and two fun vintage looking photos that can be used in any room.

I wasn't going to look at the clothing but I took a quick peak and found a few treasures. I am beyond obsessed with this sweater!! It's silk, lambswool, angora and nylon...score! Not to mention the sequins, amaze town! The dots on the dress are a silvery gold metallic and it's perfect for Summer but will transition perfectly in to Fall with a leather jacket and ankle boots. The black top is actually all velvet, fits like a glove and feels like heaven.

Total spent: only $55.91!!! Have you thrifted any fabulous pieces lately?

Sunday Best.

Dress: Vintage: La Loupe Vintage / Shoes: Stuart Weitzman / Handbag: Vintage (Thrifted)
Heart Ring: F21 / Bangles: Target (old) / On My Toes: OPI "You're Such a Budapest"

Do you remember the days of getting dressed up for church? I know for me growing up it was a day you always wanted to look your best. After all, you are going to God's house & that's a reason to dress up. Now days it's more much laid back & most people just come in their jeans, tees & sandals. There is nothing wrong with this because the important thing is that you are at church & making God a priority in your life. Most of us are coming from somewhere or going somewhere after church as life just keeps getting busier. This morning I just found myself missing the days of Sunday being more of a special occasion. I was reflecting on Sunday's growing up. Our house would be bustling as everyone got ready for church. Dad was always sitting at the table reading the Sunday newspaper, sipping his coffee. He would put aside all the store flyer's for me since he knew I loved to look at the ad's. The flyer's were Target, JCP, Kohl's, etc. I would circle pieces or looks that I loved. Tear out pages or bend the corners to look at later. This was my inspiration before I started reading magazines. After church my family would always go out to eat with a big group. We basically took over whatever joint we landed in. It was always a happy day filled with family, friends, & time with God. This is a tradition I want to get back to & carry on. We all need a day to focus on what's important, reflect, be thankful & spend quality time with God & family. This is especially important for kids. I believe it helps keep you grounded & when you're all grown up & experiencing the challenges of life you can reflect on these days & come back to center remembering what's most important in life. God first, family second, then career.

Today is the first time I've worn this dress & I bought it months ago! I instantly fell in love with the color & style of the dress when I found it at La Loupe Vintage shop. It was an awful length & because of the boxiness I had to have it chopped off. A lot of times people overlook fab pieces because they doesn't see past it's hanger appeal. I love to envision every piece all accessorized & tailored if need be. The fresh peachy coral color of this dress naturally brightens your mood & the vintage style made me feel extra ladylike. Stella ran around by my feet & I sipped coffee while playing with tying the scarf around my hair. With my something old dress & bag I paired something new..my Stuart Weitzman cork sandals. They are the perfect chic shoe to complete a look without being overpowering. Overall I had a little extra pep in my step today.

Did you have a Sunday tradition growing up? What have you been reflecting on lately?
